How to Clean Leather Car Seats

Vacuum

Leather seats are very delicate because the fabric can easily tear off when scrubbed or using a sharp object; therefore, it is important to use a vacuum to remove the dirt in the crevices when you want to maintain its original state. Before you begin cleaning, it is important to remove all the debris found in the seats to allow easy washing.

Use a Soap Solution or Leather Cleaner

Leather seat care is important, and this is why you should not use harsh chemicals that may impact the quality of your leather. Before cleaning, you should make sure that you have a ph-neutral cleaner that’s approved for leather. Take a piece of microfiber cloth, dip it into the solution, and squeeze it out to ensure that it’s not excessively wet.

Scrub the Seat

Using your microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled brush, scrub the upholstery. Make sure to take care around any perforations to avoid getting water inside the seat.

Leather Conditioning

After completing leather cleaning, it is imperative to give the leather seat care by conditioning them to prevent further damage. Using an approved leather conditioner, which can be purchased at the Transwest GMC parts center, you’ll want to apply it to the seats and gently work it in using a clean microfiber cloth. Let the conditioner dry, and then buff off using a clean microfiber cloth to complete the process.
